Most of these subjects are requirements for preparing students of the first, second, third and fourth stages, through which they learn how to diagnose the diseases that affect farm animals and how to treat them.

The branch comprises four main units: physiology, pharmacology and toxicology, biochemistry, and general chemistry. Among the aims of the branch is to teach veterinary medicine students the fundamentals of physiology, pharmacology, biochemistry and general chemistry. The branch also runs postgraduate programmes at master's and doctoral level in physiology, pharmacology and toxicology. The facilities provided by the Branch of Physiology and Pharmacology offer a university research environment for postgraduate students.
