On Thursday, September 3, 2026, the Assistant President of the University of Shatrah for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Fadel Mohsen Hamad, chaired a discussion committee for a master’s thesis at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basra, by the student Muhammad Abbas Hussein, tagged: “Synthesis and characterization of new pharmaceutical derivatives from hydroxylamine.”
The thesis dealt with the manufacture of new drug derivatives derived from tinidazole treatment. The prepared compounds were characterized and purified using a number of techniques and laboratory analyses, including FT-IR, H-NMR, MS, and C13-NMR.
The results of preliminary biological evaluations of the prepared derivatives showed that they have anti-specific activity against certain types of bacteria, in addition to some compounds having anti-cancer activity, which reflects the scientific importance of these compounds and the possibility of benefiting from them in developing future pharmaceutical projects.
The results of the study emphasized the importance of continuing the necessary research and laboratory and clinical experiments, in preparation for evaluating the possibility of developing these compounds and turning them into usable pharmaceutical preparations.
